Ski Jumping Facilities
Harrachov is an important ski centre and the first place in the Czech Republic where a long distance run over 50 km was held in 1905. It is allegedly the place where the first relay contest in Europe was held, in 1906. The first ski jump in Harrachov was built here at the foot of Certak hill in 1920 and another jump was built at Ptacinec hill two years later. Harrachov is among the few ski centres in Europe where world cups in ski jumping and ski flying are held.
The facilities include ski jumps designated K40, K70 and K90, the last of them being equipped with a plastic surface from 1997 to allow summer jumping. Above them, on Certova hora mountain, a large ski jumping facility was built in 1978-1983, with a K120 jump, and a giant jump for ski flying which has been designated K185 after the last rebuilding in 2000.
