Experts know that one of the most beautiful times of the year in the mountains is undoubtedly the beginning of summer. From May onwards, the meadows in the lower altitudes bloom and gradually summer comes to the Arctic-Alpine tundra on the ridges.
The Indian summer and the beginning of autumn also have their charm, when the hillsides turn a colourful palette of golden leaves and grass and the stable weather can conjure up unforgettable days.
There is no denying that there are more than enough visitors during the holiday months, especially on the main hiking trails. However, even in July or August you just need to plan your hike a little creatively, take advantage of the weekdays and it is not uncommon to meet practically no one for long hours.
The mountain huts are usually open from Christmas until Easter. It is a wonderful opportunity to cross the Krkonose Mountains on cross-country, backcountry or alpine skis on well-marked trails.
On the other hand, you have to take into account your own physical condition, experience and equipment. The days are short, the weather is often harsh and in the Krkonose Mountains it is very variable. From an azure day you can find yourself in an unadulterated Nordic blizzard faster than you can say snowman.
The nature of the Krkonose Mountains hides treasures of world importance, which is why it was declared a national park in 1963. We believe that we do not need to tell you, who can appreciate the beauty of sunrises and sunsets, the silence of the mountain forest and the endless views of the misty distances, about the importance of observing the rules of visitation.
