Visit villages in the Krkonose Mountains and discover picturesque places under the mountains

You pass through them on your way to the mountains and look down on them from the Krkonose ridges. The foothill villages pulsate with culture and tradition, or sit quietly in a landscape that ripples a little less, but smells, blooms and invites you to take a walk. They preserve Krkonoše values, architecture and original crafts.

The foothills are the lifeblood from which the mountain ranges grow, and together they form one perfect whole.

Pensive Roprachtice

Come and let yourself be enchanted by the romantic and pensive atmosphere of Roprachtice. You will pass by the Krkonose huts, meadows and fields, the panorama of the Krkonose Mountains will accompany you on the horizon. You will discover the nature trail "Vlcek, ktery nekouse" full of interesting stories. The story of the lookout tower U borovice above Roprachtice is also unique. Enjoy a 360° view of the region.

About Roprachtice

Mricna can surprise

The inconspicuous village of Mricna will surprise you with its archaeological sites and well-known natives such as Jan Buchar and Václav Vrbata. A walk along one of the local nature trails, such as the green and yellow trails, will lead you to the Večerníček swing in the middle of the meadows overlooking the Krkonose Mountains. Stop by the natural swimming pool with facilities for year-round activities.

To Chotevice to pilgrimage sites and an unconventional church

Chotevice offers a 14-kilometre circuit through the peaceful countryside, which will take you to the Marian pilgrimage site and the Hajemstvi forest area. On your return, visit the Church of St. Peter and Paul, which hosts unique concerts organised by its patrons, Karin and Richard Krajčov. The church is also the pop art gallery of artist Josef Rataj.

The whole trip

From the Mlade Buky to the blooming Sluneční stran

Take the ancient route from Mlade Buky to Slunecna stran. You will follow in the footsteps of pilgrims who used to go to mass at the Church of St. Catherine. Enjoy the walk through the fields, meadows and beech forests of the Antonín valley and the climb to the Slunecna stran with a beautiful view.

To Studence for views

Come for a walk to the twice awarded Village of the Year of the Liberec Region. Try to find the Lookout benches! The local scout troop made 10 of them and placed them in nice viewpoints. We recommend the ones on the top of the Straz. If you need a more specific destination for your hike, or are looking for a program for an afternoon with the kids, try quest

For an unearthly swing to Horni Kalna

A quiet, perhaps at first glance ordinary place that you would probably not choose as a destination for a trip. A beautiful, healthy tree with a swing hanging from it. You swing and are reminded of the simple joy of childhood. And see the view of the Krkonose Mountains? And that is exactly the principle of the Swings from the Mountains project. We recommend the Swing at the cross between the meadows in Horni Kalna.

Which way to the swing

Kostalov Forest Park

The village of Kostalov lies in the foothills of the Krkonose Mountains, in the valley of the Oleska River. Right in the heart of the village you will discover the Forest Park, which invites you to take a peaceful walk and recharge your energy. Follow the paths, irregularly woven between the tree trunks and explore all the game elements and educational boards.

In the foothills by bike

In the foothills by bike

The Krkonose foothills also offer relaxing cycling trips with a pleasant altitude profile and views this time from the lowlands upwards to the panorama of the highest ridges.

Cycle paths wind through the terrain and along paved roads, crossing villages, meadows and farms in the foothills of the Krkonose Mountains.

You may discover that you don't need to climb the peaks for a true Krkonoše experience. In the foothills, you don't have to be tied to cable cars or bicycle buses, and yet you'll discover countless sightseeing spots.
