Strážné

Originally part of Vrchlabí, today this independent village is among the Krkonoše’s most popular resorts all year round.

The area of Strážné includes secluded mountain chalets, such as Hříběcí boudy, Lahrovy boudy, Šestidomí, Rybniční domky, Krásná pláň, Vápenice and others. A high-quality Krkonoše marble deposit can be seen near Hříběcí boudy. The local stone was used for buildings as well as art works, not only for small souvenirs but also as a raw material for sculptors. The remains of an old Silesian Way from the 11th century, leading across the Krkonoše, are known today as the Stony Road (Kamenná cesta or Kamenka).
