Krkonose’s Main Cycle Route

Zacler - Harrachov

The Krkonose’s longest cycle track, referred to as Krkonosska diagonala in Czech, connects the eastern parts with the western parts and runs from Zacler to Harrachov. You can take the trail in the reverse direction, or take just one part and use the Krkonose cyclo-buses to get back. The track offers unforgettable views of the entire mountain range and connects to other tracks and circuits.

The track which crosses the highest parts of the entire Krkonose Mountains is called the Krkonose’s Main Cycle Route (Krkonosska diagonala in Czech) and covers the entire length of the mountains. It is marked as the K1A cycle track. In some sections you can use a chair lift or cable car to help you climb the necessary ascents. It is described herein from the east to the west, but it can be taken in either direction or divided up into several parts while you can stay overnight at the mountain chalets you choose.

The starting point is at Rychorske Square in Zacler. You ascend to the Rychorsky kriz junction and follow the Czech-Polish border to Horni Alberice, Lysecinska chalet and Dolni Mala Upa. Continue via Spaleny Mlyn and past Janovy chalet to Pec pod Snezkou. From there you have to overcome the biggest and steepest ascent to Vyrovka chalet, where beautiful views of the surrounding landscape can be enjoyed in good weather. Then turn left for Chalupa Na Rozcesti chalet and via the Zadni Rennerovky and Hribeci chalets descend to Strazne. The route turns right and from the Krasna Plan junction descends to Spindleruv Mlyn. Cross the River Labe in the centre of the town across the Bily (White) Bridge and then ascend on the Medvedi trail to Horni Misecky. Descend to Dolni Misecky and take the last ascent to Dvoracky chalet. From there, you will just descend via the Rucicky junction and Ryzoviste to Harrachov.
