Martinice v Krkonoších
This picturesque village is situated in the foothills of the Western Krkonose. Its location makes it an interesting place on the boundary between the Krkonose and a well-known area called the Czech Paradise. Martinice is a peaceful place that is a good starting point for both of these areas, i.e., the Krkonossky National Park and the Czech Paradise Protected Landscape Area, and to the Czech Paradise European Geopark, whose border runs through the village.
Unique Railway Station and Fishponds
Martinice is situated on the railway line called the Jizera Pacific, which ends in Rokytnice nad Jizerou. The railway station in Martinice is the highest located station on the line. Rail operation is still controlled by now very rare mechanical signals and the station has been declared a national monument. The Railway Museum and educational trail are near the station.
We also recommend a comfortable walk around Martinice’s fishponds. They were founded as part of the old Czech fishpond system. The ‘U mlejna’ forestry educational trail runs around them.
