Jan Amos Komensky Labyrinth
Žacléř
The Labyrinth monument was put up in Ruzovy paloucek (‘Glade of Roses’) in Cerna Voda, near Zacler, in 2018, in the symbolic place of Komensky’s last stay in Bohemia before leaving for exile in Leszno, Poland.
The monument is made from nearby Bozanov sandstone carved in Teplice nad Metuji. Inside the stone labyrinth is a bronze portrait of Komensky, and his quotes are carved in pinkish stone blocks from the quarry in Szklarska Poreba, Poland. The monument, 12 m in diameter, refers to Komensky’s top work, Labyrinth of the World and Paradise of the Heart. The perimeter of this stone work is 38 m. It was designed by Paulina Skavova and Petr Benes.
