Autumn weekend with children in the Krkonose Mountains

The end of the holidays does not mean the end of adventure! The hot days are leaving, the fresh air encourages you to move. We gratefully use every free day to escape into nature. And September and October traditionally promise long weekends.

This year, come and spend them with your children in the Krkonose Mountains. Take a ride to the hills, get closer to the sun, and run off on hikes that will keep the whole family entertained.

Soak up the warm energy together for the cold days ahead.

Programme for 3 days with children in the Krkonose Mountains

If you long for mountain nature and want to go for a pleasant walk, try a hike from the top of Cerna hora. A cable car will take you up and you will walk downhill the rest of the way. You'll pass through the unique meadow enclave of Lucina and descend to Pec pod Snezkou with its divine views of Snezka and the Obri dul. The whole route can be done with a stroller. If you go without it, turn onto the nature trail to the Cernohorské peat bog. The autumn colours suit it very well.

The trail is 7.5 km long.

To return to Janske Lazne you can use the regular bus service or the TourBus. The operating hours of the cable car may be limited, keep an eye on the current information.

Not tired yet? Then climb into the treetops on the Krkonose Treetop Trail in Janske Lazne. However, if you walk the whole trail, you will still have to walk almost 3 km.

The bus from Spindleruv Mlyn will take you to the heart of the central Krkonose Mountains, to the ridge route of Czech-Polish friendship. Get off at Spindlerova bouda and follow the red marked trail towards Petrovec. From the car park, you will be guided along the Professor Fanta Nature Trail, which will be appreciated especially by older children interested in the protection and care of nature.

Younger children will enjoy tracking their animal friends on the Krkonose Animals Nature Trail. Hidden among the trees, on their branches or in the moss below them are wooden figures waiting for clever children. There are also information boards dedicated to individual Krkonose animals.

The nature trail leads to Moravska bouda, where you can enjoy a trampoline and swings and, of course, refreshments. For a divine view, climb Petrovka, it's worth it. Then you can descend back to Spindleruv Mlyn. The Elbe will accompany you all the way to the centre.

The entire route is 8.3 km long.

Do you want to stretch or warm up after the hike? Try the aquapark at Medvedin. For more peaceful creative fun, visit the Lego Brick Museum.

Take a walk through the picturesque Paseky nad Jizerou. In some places it is as if time has stopped here. Log cabins sit quietly in the meadows, with quiet and empty roads all around.

On the nature trail you will be accompanied by bird friends, which you will meet 12 in total. But it's not just them you'll learn about. The information signs have been prepared by locals and are full of stories. These will be more fun for adults. For children, there is a task or question at each stop. And at the end of the trail you will find the Prdek, or Mountain Hut on Perlíček. It's a great place to cook, with friendly service and you can try a unique game called chamburina.

A little further on, still in the Paseky nad Jizerou, is the Memorial of the Lost Patriots. Not only by its name, but also by its expositions, it pays tribute to the famous work of Karel Václav Rais. His novel The Forgotten Patriots was inspired by the teacher and violin maker Věnceslav Metelka, who lived, worked and founded the Krkonose Violin School in Paseky nad Jizerou. It was here that the violin, which is still famous all over the world today, was born.

And did you know that you can get to Paseky na Jizerou by train? A line called the Pojizersky Pacifik runs to nearby Jablonec nad Jizerou. Try it out and play some fun games with Count Harrach along the way.

But not all of them. Operating hours are also very limited. We therefore recommend that you always check the current status before travelling. They usually only run on weekends and holidays.

Hide under the roof and discover a piece of Krkonose history. Whether you're interested in crafts or you like technical monuments, you'll find something for yourself. Or jump into the pool. It's all there for you in the Krkonose Mountains.
