From history
The creation of the hut, perched at the end of the valley in the grip of the mountains, is paradoxically linked to a tragic event. At the end of the 19th century, the Krkonose Mountains were hit by a massive flood. In order to prevent a repeat of the situation, the course of the White Elbe and other Krkonose streams was cleaned, deepened and dammed with stone structures, partitions and thresholds. These gave rise to many rapids and waterfalls and turned the flow of the river into a picturesque spectacle. As a result, more and more tourists began to march upstream. The tourist potential was exploited by Václav Hollman in 1913. In order to give passers-by a place to refresh themselves before climbing the ridges, he established a simple hut at the point where the path ascends to the top of Lucni hora. It still serves the same purpose today.
