The Crystal Valley commemorates and revives the glassmaking tradition of the North

Harrachov Glassworks

The glassmaking tradition in northern Bohemia is so significant that it cannot be limited by regional borders or mountain ranges.

The stories of individual manufacturers intertwine, influence, and complement each other. This is why the imaginary Crystal Valley was created: to connect individuals into a whole, promote their unique work, and open the doors of their studios and workshops to visitors.

You can easily imagine Crystal Valley as a line, 70 km long, stretching from the Lusatian Mountains through the Jizera Mountains to the Krkonoše and Bohemian Paradise. The history of Czech glassmaking was written along this line, and to this day you can find many traces there, many places where tradition continues. And why crystal, when it’s about glass? Because our glass was so clear, pure, hard, and radiant that it earned the name Czech crystal and fame all over the world

Come and take a peek behind the scenes! Take the opportunity to visit artists’ studios, discover glassmaking masters in small workshops and large glassworks, admire the precision and skill of jewelers, and try working with the delicate material yourself.

Across all the regions of the Liberec Region mentioned above, numerous producers are involved in Crystal Valley—individual craftsmen as well as large, world-famous brands. Check out the website www.crystalvalley.cz and pick where you’d like to revel in sparkling beauty.
