Poledni kamen Rock Formation
Poledni kamen (‘Midday Rock’, also known as Slonecznik in Polish) is a 12 m tall granite rock on the northern slopes of Stribrny ridge, and is often used as a prominent landmark by hikers. It takes its name from the fact that the sun lies directly above the rock at midday when viewed from the Polish side of the Krkonose. The Polish name, which preceded the Czech name, is Slonecznik.
A rock bench has been preserved from the Krkonose’s first explorers. A dam near Sobieszow, Poland can be seen from the rock top.
