The educational trail will take you to the most beautiful places in Vrchlabi, the gateway to the Krkonose Mountains. The green-marked path begins in the town centre at the historical town hall building, where you can also visit the Krkonose Regional Tourist Information Office and pick up a booklet with a map and description of the monuments on the trail. The trail continues along Krkonosska St. - one of the town’s main streets, to one of the oldest houses in the town. There you turn for the River Labe (the Elbe) and follow its course for several hundred metres. After the Strelnice cultural centre, well-known from the famous movie The Fireman’s Ball (Hori, ma panenko) by Milos Forman from 1967, turn off to one of the town’s landmarks - the church of St. Lawrence. Just opposite the church are four historical houses, a rare example of the original municipal buildings, today housing the exhibitions of the Krkonose Museum. The trail continues to the Augustinian monastery, which dates back to the 18th century and where you also find the Krkonose Museum. The beautiful Baroque monastery church is open to the public in summer. The trail will take you back to the town on a comfortable walk through the newly opened monastery garden and the palace park, where you can see rare and exotic trees and enjoy the view of Vrchlabi’s palace.
